Depots, yards and customer sites already recognise vehicles at the gate. What they cannot see is whether the right driver is in that vehicle, for the right job, at the right time. Trust App's patented method could close that gap.
How depot and fleet operations work today
Most operations follow the same pattern. A vehicle arrives at a depot, yard or customer site, a camera or a gatehouse identifies it by its number plate, and the visit is matched to a booking or a job. Confirming who is driving is a separate, manual step: paperwork at the window, a licence or ID check, a name against a list. Fuel cards and fleet accounts work the same way, tied to a vehicle or a card rather than to the person using it.
The model works, but the vehicle and the driver are verified separately, if the driver is verified at all. That creates a set of familiar operational problems.

Arrivals checked on paperwork
Depot arrivals rely on paperwork and manual identity checks to confirm the right driver is in the right vehicle for the right job. Every check adds queue time at the gate, and every shortcut taken under pressure weakens the control.
Fleet accounts used by the wrong driver or vehicle
Fuel cards and fleet accounts are tied to a card or a plate, not to the person present. A card used with the wrong vehicle, or a vehicle fuelled by the wrong driver, produces charges the fleet has little means of challenging.
Unreadable plates need a person at the gate
A gate that cannot read a plate needs a person standing at it. The manual fallback is exactly the cost the automated gate was meant to remove, and it returns with every dirty, damaged or obscured plate.
Collection fraud exploits the gap
Fraudulent collections work because nobody verifies the person against the vehicle. A plausible vehicle, a hi-vis jacket and a confident manner can be enough to drive away with a load, and the loss is discovered only when the genuine carrier arrives.
Disputes settled on paperwork
When a load goes missing or a delivery is contested, the question of who collected or delivered what is settled on paperwork: signatures, gate logs and proof-of-delivery notes that are easy to lose and easy to forge.

- Driver and vehicle verified together on arrival. An arrival at a depot or customer site could be confirmed as the expected driver in the expected vehicle, with the driver's registered device and the recognised vehicle verified together at the gate rather than reconciled on paperwork.
- Workflows triggered by verified arrivals. Loading and collection workflows could start automatically when a verified driver and vehicle arrive: the bay assigned, the paperwork prepared, the team notified, without anyone standing at the gate to set it in motion.
- Depot access without manual gate checks. Routine arrivals by verified drivers and vehicles could pass without a manual check, reserving the gatehouse's attention for the arrivals that genuinely need it.
- A stronger evidence trail. Each collection or delivery could carry a record of which verified driver and vehicle performed it, giving both sides of a dispute something firmer than a signature on a docket.
Each of these would be built by or with a partner into the operator's existing systems. None of them exists as a Trust product today, and the precise design would depend on the operation, its processes and its suppliers.
